What Is the CR Custom Exteriors Lifetime Workmanship Warranty?
The CR Custom Exteriors Lifetime Workmanship Warranty covers our installation workmanship for the lifetime of the installed product. Two conditions apply: the job uses one of our recommended systems, and the system is maintained by CR Custom Exteriors. If a leak or failure is caused by how we installed it, we repair it at no cost to you. It works alongside the manufacturer's material warranty and doesn't replace it.
A new roof comes with two very different warranties, and most homeowners only hear about one. The manufacturer's warranty covers defects in the shingles and components. The workmanship warranty covers the installation: nailing, flashing, underlayment, ventilation and the details where most roof problems actually start. Manufacturer warranties generally exclude installation errors. That makes the contractor's workmanship coverage the part that protects you from the most common failures.
Many roofers on the Front Range limit workmanship coverage to somewhere between one and ten years. We don't. When you choose one of our recommended systems and let us maintain it, our workmanship is covered for as long as the product is.
What's covered
- Installation defects. Leaks or failures caused by how we installed the system, including nailing, flashing, underlayment, drip edge, ventilation and penetrations.
- Labor and materials to fix it. If the problem is ours, we repair it at no charge.
- For the life of the product. Coverage runs as long as the manufacturer's warranty on the installed product, not a short fixed term.
The two conditions
- One of our recommended systems is installed. This means a complete system we specify, such as an Owens Corning roofing system with matching underlayment, starter, hip and ridge, and ventilation, installed to the manufacturer's specifications. Mixing in off-brand or customer-supplied components can change what we can warranty.
- The system is maintained by us. CR Custom Exteriors handles the system's maintenance and repairs. We recommend a periodic inspection, and a check after any major hail or wind storm. Work by another contractor on the covered system can affect coverage, so call us first.
What isn't covered
Like every workmanship warranty, ours covers installation, not acts of nature or the materials themselves. Hail, wind and other storm damage is an insurance matter, and we can help you document it for your adjuster. Material defects are covered by the manufacturer's warranty. Damage from other trades, neglect or alterations isn't covered. The complete terms, including what happens when you sell your home, are in the written warranty you receive when your project is complete.
Why we can offer it
A lifetime workmanship warranty only means something if the contractor installs every roof correctly and plans to stay around. As an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor, our crews install Owens Corning systems every week to the manufacturer's spec. We're a local, Erie-based company serving the Front Range, and our business depends on roofs that don't come back.
